by Gregg Hall

The ancient cultures in the East have used essential oils and aromatherapy for thousands of years to help to boost the immune system among other things; the West is just now catching on. Aromatherapy has proven itself to be a safe and effective way of protecting and enhancing your immune system.

One of the biggest causes of problems in our immune system is stress, which is an issue for almost everyone. Some stress can be a positive thing, but an abundance of stress can wreak havoc on your body by causing excessive levels of the hormone, cortisol. The reason for the existence of this hormone goes back to primitive times and is there to help us react in dangerous circumstances. The problem us that the same substance is also utilized to return your system back to the pre-danger state so if you are in a semi-constant state of stress you maintain high cortisol levels.

Why does this affect your immune system? The presence of an abundance of cortisol in your blood for long periods lowers your immune response. The way to use aromatherapy to enhance your immune system begins with using essential oils like chamomile, lavender, and tea tree oil that help you to relax. These can be heated to form a vapor, used in massage oils, or as we are seeing often now, put into aromatherapy candles.

A massage performed with essential oils is helpful with your circulation, relaxes you and nourishes your skin. In addition the vapors will help to take away anxiety as you inhale them. Your skin is your body's first line of defense against infection and keeping it from entering your blood. Use Tea Tree Oil as a powerful antiseptic to help keep your skin healthy and to treat problems like warts, burns, and acne.

Another powerful essential oil that has been used to treat bacteria since biblical times is frankincense. This scent was burned frequently in temples and other public places where many people gathered because it was known then to be a powerful bacteria and virus fighter. It is widely used for its ability to boost the immune system.

Take a lesson from the ancients and implement aromatherapy into your health regimen. It will help keep you from getting sick and if you are sick it will assist you to recover more quickly. It doesn't to much matter whether you choose to burn the essential oils as a vapor, use as massage oil, or use aromatherapy candles, just know that they will strengthen your immune system and try to decrease stress as much as possible.

About the Author

Gregg Hall is an author and internet marketing consultant living in Navarre Florida.
How To Blend Essential Oil Combinations For A Balanced Aromatherapy Scent

by Gregg Hall

As far as alternative medicines go, aromatherapy as moved into the realm of popularity in recent years mainly due to the fact that has been proven helpful in a wide variety of circumstances. Aromatherapy is used by women to help ease labor pains during childbirth. There are many other medicinal uses for it as well though it is not just for the sick. Aromatherapy can be used to help you focus, to relax, and on the other hand with the right blends it can also be invigorating.

There are some basics that you need to learn in order to produce your own blends of essential aromatherapy oils. Essential oils are put into categories according to their notes. Essential oils that have a tendency to evaporate more rapidly are known as top notes; these are also known for their antiviral properties. Top note essential oils are also usually very fresh in comparison to others and are usually very uplifting in nature with lighter scents. Top note essential oils are also very inexpensive and are considered to be fast acting, but not known for their endurance.

The essential oils known as middle notes are best for balancing the blending of oils that you are choosing. They are very mild and unlike the top notes you will not even be able to detect that they are present at first which is why they are so good for using to blend the others.

Base notes are the essential oils that are heavier than the others and have a very solid and long lasting scent. They are very good for helping the shorter duration oils that tend to evaporate last longer. The richness of these oils helps you to relax. As a side note, these oils are usually the most expensive of essential oils.

To learn to create the right scent balance it is important that you keep in mind that the top notes tend to be intense but short lasting so it is best to balance them with middles and base notes. The whole key is to end up with a blend that is what you need it to be on an emotional level.

To begin blending your own essential oils you should pick essential oils that you regularly use. You should also always mix at least one oil from each category so that your resultant blend is a mixture of all three notes. It is more than just choosing oils that you like the smell of, you want them to last as well.

Once you have blended equal parts of each essential oil in an airtight container and you have determined that you like the scent then put the lid on it and leave it for at least forty-eight hours. Now when you open the jar back up you will have the scent that you have blended.

About the Author

Gregg Hall is an author and internet marketing consultant living in Navarre Florida.
How To Use Aromatherapy Candles

by Gregg Hall

The first thing you want to do is be sure that you have true aromatherapy candles. Scented candles are not aromatherapy candles. Make sure they contain pure essential oils.

There are many different types of aromatherapy candles to help treat a variety of conditions. For instance if you are wanting something that will invigorate you because you are tired from work or dealing with the kids, take a break and light an aromatherapy candle for energy containing oils such as peppermint, spearmint, basil, and eucalyptus. Some other good energy oils are cedar, rosemary, cinnamon, and vanilla.

If you need to relax because you are all revved up from work or you have trouble relaxing to go to sleep you will want to burn a relaxing aromatherapy candle containing oils like lavender, chamomile, geranium and rose.
To help you increase concentration, use aromatherapy candles with lemon, orange, grapefruit, lemongrass, and bergamot oils to help block out distractions and help your creativity.

Aromatherapy candles can do a lot for creating atmosphere as well. If you want to have a quiet romantic evening at home with someone special and you have already gone out of your way to make everything else right, aromatherapy candles can offer that finishing touch. After you have cooked up a fabulous gourmet dinner and have set the table with fine china and crystal topped off with a vase of fresh cut flowers, light an aromatherapy candle that creates sensuality with oils like vanilla, neroli, rose, clary sage, sandalwood.

Always keep in mind that if you are burning multiple candles, only group those of the same type. Don’t light relaxing and invigorating candles at the same time, they will compete with each other and the loser will be you.
Remember, aromatherapy candles aren’t just for company and special occasions; you can use them everyday to increase your own quality of life. Aromatherapy candles can go a long way to giving you pleasure with very little exertion on your part.

About the Author

Gregg Hall is a business consultant and author for many online and offline businesses and lives in Navarre Florida.
